The “Goblin Slayer” anime series perfectly timed its first season finale, which took place just a couple of days before 2018 ended. Now, fans of the dark fantasy franchise are starting to wonder if there will ever be “Goblin Slayer” season 2.
It is important to note that an official decision is yet to be announced whether or not “Goblin Slayer” season 2 is happening. However, various clues suggest there is a high possibility.
And since “Goblin Slayer” season 2 is yet to be confirmed, a release date for the next installment is also still unknown. But reports already have some plausible theories. Game Revolution suggested that if the same studio, White Fox, will continue working on the anime series, then fans cannot expect it to arrive anytime soon.
The report pointed out that, since 2015, White Fox has seemingly made a rule of focusing on just two projects within a year. For 2019, the studio is already reportedly busy with “Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest “ and “The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious.” This means that any work for “Goblin Slayer” season 2 will unlikely commence this year. In that case, the anime series might not arrive until fall 2020.
Despite the lack of an official announcement for “Goblin Slayer” season 2, there are several signs that it is more likely going to happen. Like other rookie anime series, the first season of “Goblin Slayer” ended with a title card that says the titular protagonist will “return.”
Meanwhile, the final scenes for season 1 also suggested that the Orcbolg’s story is far from over. Even though he successfully secured that Cow Girl and the farm are now safe from any goblin threats, he admitted that has started liking the life of an adventurer and hinted at pursuing more quests in the future (a.k.a. “Goblin Slayer” season 2).
There is also a rich source of material from the original light novel and manga series if ever it gets renewed for “Goblin Slayer” season 2. At the moment, there are nine light novel volumes released and the first season only covered the first one.
