In the past several months, information and photos supposedly giving away hints on the design and specs of the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been leaking non-stop. With just a little over a month left before its speculated announcement date, here are the details that fans can expect from the upcoming smartphones.
Release Date
Even without the leaked documents, smartphone fans may easily guess when the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are going to be unveiled. But that is not to say Google did not let anything slip about this matter.
Earlier this month, YouTube channel This Is Tech Today came across Google’s FameBit listing for promotion deals focused on the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The company’s official post clearly stated that its new smartphone series is “launching Oct. 4th, 2018.” Interestingly, this is the exact same announcement date the company had for the unveiling of the first two Pixel series in 2016 and 2017.
However, Bloomberg said last Monday that the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be revealed at a slightly later date. According to the report, Google will introduce their new smartphones at an Oct. 9 event in New York.
Design
The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL design is also one of the highly leaked details about the upcoming devices. Several CAD images reportedly from factories have surfaced online giving fans a hint on how these handsets are going to look.

As expected, the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will each have screen design improvements. Both devices are going to have much bigger viewing spaces compared to their predecessors.
A @MobileSyrup reader spotted this possible Pixel 3 XL photo in the wild on the streetcar in Toronto, Ontario today. Our team thinks the photo is legitimate, especially given the big notch and substantial chin. Do you think this is a photo of the Pixel 3 XL? pic.twitter.com/nPTGHmIVUO

All leaked photo and video renders show that only the Google Pixel 3 XL has the display notch along with an edge-to-edge screen. This was not only seen in illustrations but also in real life. This month, a suspected Google employee in Canada was seen twice on separate occasions using the purported Google Pixel 3 XL in public.
The Google Pixel 3, on the other hand, was only seen in CAD images. But those were enough to expect that it is having thinner bezels.
Technical Specs, Features
One of the most interesting speculations surrounding the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is linked to a rumored wireless charging dock supported by Google’s own digital assistant. The codes for the Google app ver8.14 update contains a line that reads, “Your Assistant can use your personal info to make suggestions, answer questions, and take actions for you when your phone is locked and on your Pixel Stand.”
Meanwhile, a GeekBench result also hints there will be a standard 4GB RAM for the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. It also suggests that the upcoming devices are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.

All these details have been supported by various sources with obtained documents, renders, tips from insiders, and actual photos. But it is still important to note that Google has neither confirmed nor denied these claims.
