Google has made plenty of innovations throughout its existence, from the massively expedient way to search for information to popularizing self-driving technology. Now, the search engine company is tapping classic games like “Tic-Tac-Toe” and “Solitaire” for its next technological revolution; allowing them to be playable on its search page.
All right, so Google doesn’t really change how the games are played. However, it does add to the entertainment factor related to the games. Search engine pages are not exactly associated with video games unless it’s to search for news related to video games. As such, adding classic titles like “Solitaire” and “Tic-Tac-Toe” on its most popular service is an amusing factor that makes Google standout.
As Tech Crunch notes, there’s no need to install any apps when players want to access the new games. They simply need to go to the search page and type up specific words related to them.
For example, typing the word “solitaire” in the search box will reveal a card for the game in the results. Users will then need to tap that card so that they can play. Unfortunately, users will need to be connected to the internet in order to play the games, so there’s no chance of entertaining oneself with the features on one’s mobile phone in areas without network connections.
The games won’t interfere with search results either, as Android Headlines points out. All of the other search results for the specific words typed into the search box will still appear. This allows anyone who wants to download an app for solitaire or tic-tac-toe to actually find those apps instead of having to navigate around the Google mini-games.
Google’s tendency to provide users with helpful search results while also keeping things lively and enjoyable is one of the many traits internet surfers have always found appealing. This likely contributes to the search engine company’s dominance in the world of internet browsing.
