The continuation of the rookie anime series “Great Pretender” is finally arriving on Netflix this month for viewers outside Japan. The streaming platform has added “Great Pretender” season 2 to the list of its upcoming titles for this month along with its exact release date.
‘Great Pretender’ season 2 exact release date set in November
It should be made clear that, while Netflix calls it “Great Pretender” season 2, this original anime has just one series installment at this point. The entire season with 23 episodes was released in full for Netflix Japan but was divided into two releases for other territories.
What Netflix calls “season 1” of the show is just the first installments episodes 1-14, which premiered outside Japan last Aug. 20. What the streaming platform advertises as “Great Pretender” season 2 is composed of episodes 15-23 and will be released altogether on Nov. 25.

“Great Pretender” season 2, or episodes 15-23, will be released in the same English-subbed format. The original anime was first announced by WIT Studio at the 2019 Anime Expo while a manga adaptation started its publication in June.
‘Great Pretender’ season 2 spoilers: What to expect
As the title suggests, “Great Pretender” season 2 will continue the story of a group of con artists that handle high-level heists they call “cases” taking place in different parts of the world. The first batch of episodes Netflix released covered three different cases that took place in Los Angeles, Singapore, and Europe. The overall plot is set in motion when a small-time con man known as Edamame tries to trick a man who turns out to be a top-level con artist from France named Laurent Thierry. The two end up working together along with other con artists from around the world.
“Great Pretender” season 2 will introduce a fresh case with events that happen in different parts of Asia. Fans who have seen the first 14 episodes should expect the next cases to be bleaker as Edamame attempts to start a new life. But he will eventually, albeit unintentionally, find his way back with Laurent’s crew no matter how hard he tries to leave behind that way of life.
