‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13’s episode 13, titled "It Only Gets Much Worse," is set to follow April as she takes on her new role as Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital’s interim chief of the general surgery Department. Meanwhile, Eliza will be moving forward with her teaching job at the hospital but this will prove difficult with drama surrounding the attendings.
The synopsis for "It Only Gets Much Worse" posted on TV Guide reads, “Eliza's (Marika Dominczyk) new phase of teaching begins and the residents look forward to it, but trouble arises when they wind up stuck in the middle of bickering attendings. Meanwhile, April (Sarah Drew) transitions to her new role at the hospital, and her first day is difficult.”
Although April has been promoted to heading an entire department, it seems that this new role will not sit well with her colleagues. The promo reveals imminent discourse at work as April struggles to take control of her power and position following the suspension of Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).
According to the recap of the previous episode posted on TV Fanatic, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) was forced to suspend Meredith after the latter failed to heed her warnings about not following rules. Obviously, Bailey felt bad about this but had to make the difficult decision without any personal attachments.
The promo for the upcoming episode opens with April and another doctor reading some charts at the nurse’s station. The doctor then asks, “Is Dr. Grey out sick or something?” When she reveals that she is the new department chief, the doctor doesn’t seem convinced.
This hints at possible resistance from almost everyone in her department as the other physicians try to belittle her status as the interim chief of general surgery. Even patients are quick to question her authority.
Meanwhile, Eliza will move forward with her teaching job at Grey Sloane. Her residents seem to be onboard as well. However, things will get chaotic when they are caught between attending at war with each other.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13’s episode 13, titled "It Only Gets Much Worse," is scheduled to air on February 16, 2017 on ABC. It was directed by Jeannot Szwarc and written by Lauren Barnett. It will be followed by episode 14, titled "Back Where You Belong," scheduled to be released on February 23.
