Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) is set to direct an episode for “Grey's Anatomy” Season 15, CarterMatt reported. This will be the 21st time that the actor has stepped into the role and has improved his directing skills since he first did it in season 7.
Back then, McKidd was a little nervous but was even more anxious when he directed for the second time. The actor said that the first wasn’t so bad because audiences were willing to cut him some slack, but the subsequent episode was far more daunting since people expected him to know what he was doing. But given how he handled the previous episodes, it would seem that McKidd will do just fine in “Grey's Anatomy” Season 15.
This renewal of the medical drama makes it the longest-running primetime show of ABC, the show’s mother network. James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) even said that he didn’t expect the show to last this long and the fact that “Grey's Anatomy” Season 15 is already in production is evidence of its followers’ loyalty.
McKidd shares Pickens’ surprise. The actor/director said that he can recall back in season 5 when they were discussing that the show would mostly last two more seasons before ABC pulled the plug. But now that “Grey's Anatomy” Season 15 is well underway, it is a testament to the cast and crews’ hard work in making the show successful.
McKidd said that it’s hard for him to imagine when the medical drama finally ends given how long he’s been together with the people involved in producing it. The actor/director wasn’t even in the first four seasons of the show but quickly became an integral part of its development. The first episode of “Grey's Anatomy” Season 15 has been slated to air on Sept. 27 and will last for two hours.
