Zayn Malik recently admitted he has not been on speaking terms with the other members of One Direction since he left the band. An ensuing report claimed that Harry Styles felt a reunion becomes even more impossible following Malik’s statement.
Malik posed for the December 2018 issue of the British Vogue magazine where he also discussed her former band and his relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old music artist confirmed that he has not spoken to Styles or any of the One Direction members for a long time.
“Nah. I ain't spoke to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you. That's just the way it is. There's things that happen and things that were said after I left... Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected,” Malik said when asked about his former band with Styles.
Following Zayn Malik’s interview, HollywoodLife reported that Harry Styles made comments about the possibility of a One Direction reunion concert. “[Harry] has always been open to getting the guys back together one day, but after hearing about Zayn’s latest interview he has serious doubts that would ever happen,” an insider purportedly claimed.
The same HollywoodLife informant also added that, while Styles felt bad about Malik’s statement, the two “were never really close friends." And what was said in the Vogue interview did “not come as a big shock” to the “Sign of the Times” singer.
However, Gossip Cop disputed HollywoodLife’s report. The fact-checking news site revealed that a spokesperson for Harry Styles’ had already denied the singer made such comments about Zayn Malik and a supposed One Direction reunion.
Malik was part of the One Direction for five years along with Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan. The band announced Malik’s departure in March 2015.
The following year, Zayn Malik told Zane Lowe, “I think I always wanted to go, from the first year. ... I just gave it a go because it was there at the time and then when I realized the direction we were going in – mind the pun – with the music, I instantly realized it wasn't for me.”
