WASHINGTON, DC, May 02, 2018 -- WASHINGTON, DC (May 1, 2018) - The Hearing Industries Association (HIA) Board of Directors announced the appointment of Kate Carr as its next President, effective May 1, 2018.

Carr brings over 25 years of not for profit, patient advocacy experience and government experience to HIA. She has worked in executive roles with global patient organizations and has extensive White House and federal agency experience as well.
“In Kate, we’ve identified a leader with a combination of experience, leadership skills and focus that the board of directors unanimously agreed will help HIA achieve its mission to be the trusted voice on hearing healthcare,” said Brandon Sawalich, HIA Board Chairman. “We are proud to welcome Kate as our new President and are confident that with her expertise and the strength of HIA member organizations, we will expand our collaboration with industry, medical research, policy makers and patient advocacy groups.”

Kate Carr has spent more than two decades working within the non-profit sector, most recently as the CEO of Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE). An experienced leader, she has devoted her career to organizations that change outcomes in health care and improve the lives of children and families. Under her leadership organizations have expanded health care programs in the United States and around the world, developed comprehensive marketing and brand awareness campaigns and significantly expanded advocacy efforts at the global, federal, and state levels. Kate also worked in executive roles at the nonprofit organizations Safe Kids Worldwide, Malaria No More, Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (ABC2), and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF).
