‘Homeland’ season 6’s episode 2, titled “The Man In the Basement,” is set to follow Carrie as she continues to fight for her young Muslim-American client. She will also struggle with Quinn, who is having difficulty adjusting to his new life. Meanwhile, Saul and Dar begin suspecting that president-elect Elizabeth Keane is hiding a secret.
The brief synopsis for “The Man In the Basement,” posted on TV Guide reads, “Carrie (Caire Danes) and Reda (Patrick Sabongui) fight for their client; Quinn (Rupert Friend) battles against his new life; Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and Dar (F. Murray Abraham) suspect Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) has a secret.”
In the promo, Dar seem quite concerned about the president-elect’s behavior and its implications on the nation. He exclaims, “Who on earth is advising her?” When told that he should give Keane a chance to prove herself, he retorts, “Presidents don’t get chances. They get tested.”
Meanwhile, Carrie enlists Reda’s help in defending her client, Sekou Bah (J. Mallory McCree). According to a recap of the preceding episode posted on the Independent, the young outspoken black Muslim-American was arrested on charges of supporting terrorism due to posting a series of videos online wherein he visits various terrorist plot locations and chronicling these events.
When Special Agent Conlin (Dominic Fumusa) tells Carrie in the promo that evidence against Sekou was strong, she defends the teen saying that he was only practicing free speech. However, it seems that the odds are against her and Sekou’s favor.
On the other hand, Quinn seems to be having difficulty adjusting to his new life. It looks as though he will refuse to take his medication and resort to aggressive and violent behavior. The promo shows Quinn resisting even the idea of living.
Quinn was revealed to be alive in the previous episode and was recuperating at a veteran’s hospital following his exposure to Sarin gas in Berlin. However, he exhibited signs of PTSD and partial paralysis. Quinn’s resistance to rehabilitation took him to a flophouse, where Carrie found him. She reluctantly managed to get him to stay with her and Franny in their home basement.
‘Homeland’ season 6’s episode 2, titled “The Man In the Basement,” is scheduled to be released on Showtime on January 22, 2017. It was written by Chip Johannessen and directed by Keith Gordon. It will be followed by episode 3, titled "The Covenant," scheduled for January 29.
