The Bitcoin holdings of Hyperscale Data have decreased significantly in the last month because the company sold nearly 79 percent of its approximately 1,006 BTC treasury. In the last month, about 791 BTC, or $53 million, have been sold since the company announced its shift from crypto mining to AI data-center infrastructure. The company has stopped all Bitcoin mining operations at its Michigan-based worksite that will transform into a data center.
The main reason for this transition is the Master Services Agreement (MSA) that the organization has with an unidentified California-based neocloud provider. This agreement entails the initial 20 MW of AI capacity with a potential extension through the deal for a decade, potentially worth more than $3 billion. The money from these sales will go directly into building the infrastructure for the aforementioned AI, covering engineering, equipment, and site improvements. Hyperscale Data expects to raise additional funds from the sales of its servers for mining.
Even though the company has significantly reduced its Bitcoin holdings, it does not intend to altogether quit the cryptocurrency market. The organization will keep approximately 215-275 BTC and will sell some more when necessary to fund its endeavors in AI. Besides the Michigan site, Hyperscale data has about 10 MW of mining capacity in Montana that it intends to expand upon. The company’s stock dropped to its lowest ever level after announcing the shift towards AI, and investors were quick to realize the significance of the wind-down of its Michigan-based mining operations.
