Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicle (EV) models IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, and the Genesis GV60 and G80, were given the highest Top Safety Pick+ grade in the collision tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)
The EVs were built on the carmaker’s dedicated EV platform dubbed E-GMP
Vehicles must receive the highest rating, "good," in each of the six collision safety categories, namely, driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side collision, roof strength, and head restraints and seats, in order to receive the Top Safety Pick+ designation.
The front collision prevention system test grade must be greater than "advanced," and the headlight test grade must be higher than "acceptable."
Hyundai said that 15 vehicles, including those with internal combustion engines, had received Top Safety Pick+ ratings.
