ISITC Europe has released its update on its inaugural Blockchain Working Group meeting hosted by Gary Wright from B.I.S.S. and the London Metropolitan University, held last week.
The International Securities Association for Institutional Trade Communication (ISITC) is comprised of leading executives from hundreds of institutions worldwide and provides members with the means to revolutionize the securities-trading process. ISITC Europe aims to promote operational efficiency in the global financial industry through education, design, standardisation and recommendation.
ISITC Europe’s Blockchain Working Group aims to investigate the potential impact of blockchain on the operations and technology in capital markets. The agenda of the inaugural meeting included:
- Blockchain – An overview including history, current and potential future usage in Capital Markets
- Blockchain – ISITC Europe role – where the group could play a role particularly standards, operational model changes, regulatory change/support.
- Creation of the work stream and volunteers to participate in 2016
“I am pleased to advise that a very strong mix of executives, operational and technology specialists as well as consultants and technology suppliers joined a lively introduction to Blockchain. I was also thrilled to see a number of the University students and lecturers in the room as well as the Dean of the Campus who introduced the afternoon”, the press release said.
The meeting discussed a number of issues concerning the blockchain technology. ISITC Europe said that it will look to collaborate with any existing forum that is engaged in Blockchain discussion on operational and technical definitions.
“The next stage for the Blockchain Work group is to organise regular meetings, define the scope and deliverables of the work group and elect a leader to represent the entire group on behalf of ISITC Europe and at the IELG [ISITC Europe Leadership Group]”, it added.
ISITC Europe further said that it will allow open access to its website content until 31st March 2016 after which certain areas will be restricted to members only. The first General Meeting will be held at Citibank in Canary Wharf on 26th April 2016 from 0800 to 1300.
