Tata Group plans to open 100 stores that will exclusively sell Apple products across India.
The stores will be operated by the consumer electronics store chain Croma, which is run by Tata Group’s Infiniti Retail.
Croma will be an Apple-authorized reseller and set up stores at shopping malls, high-street, and neighborhood locations.
Tata has started talking to high-end malls and high streets, and the lease agreement specifies which brands and retailers cannot open close to these outlets.
It was recently reported that Tata Group was in talks to buy Taiwan’s Wistron Corp’s only manufacturing facility in India for up to $605 million.
Tata was also in discussion with Wistron, one of Apple’s top vendors in India, to set up a joint venture for assembling iPhones in India.
