"Iron Fist," Netflix's fourth Marvel series, debuted on the streaming service on March 17th. Needless to say, it was arguably the most highly-anticipated series from the “The Defenders” franchise, Business Insider said.
But if we based it off from review aggregation sites, “Iron Fist” did not enjoy the love from critics as compared to the other “The Defenders” shows, “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” and “Luke Cage.” Metacritic rates the show a score of 36, which indicates "generally unfavorable reviews,” and fresh score by Rotten Tomatoes. Critics are blaming on the show’s pacing, cinematography, to even the casting of Finn Jones as the titular character.
“”Iron Fist” is predictable, a little hammy, and has no real sense of how to tell a cohesive story. As such, it has a few moments that are great and many that are not," Allison Keene for Collider wrote.
But a shining gem amidst the negative reviews was the other star of the show, Jessica Henwick as Colleen. Henwick, whose credits include “Game of Thrones” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” was lauded for her portrayal of the karate dojo, potential love interest and hesitant sidekick to Jones’ Danny Rand/Iron Fist.
Henwick herself told E! News how she loved her character. She shared what could be the reason by people loved her character, saying, "I think I really bring just a cool, badass, multi-faceted Asian character. My favorite part about Colleen? There are just so many things about her that I love, but I have to say the fight scenes are great. Those are a lot of fun to film. I love how real she is, she just reminds me of me in so many ways. I think she has a great character trajectory of “Iron Fist” and going into “Defenders” as well, and she has lots of secrets I think the audience will be surprised by."
