It appears that the anime series is covering events that took place after the light novel’s Visitor Arc. The official preview for “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 episode 12 reveals that the center of the action will be the Kuroba siblings Fumiya and Ayako.

Shortly after “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was announced, fans were told that it will only cover stories that happened in the three-part Visitor Arc. That was the case for the first 11 episodes of the season and anime viewers saw Lina bid Miyuki and Tatsuya farewell last week.
However, the official teasers for “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 episode 12 indicate that the anime is starting to tell stories that happened in a new arc. The show’s official website has released the next episode’s synopsis stating that Tatsuya and Miyuki are attending a party. It is to celebrate the completion of an offshore tower. The video preview shows that the Shiba siblings attending the party with the new character named Minami.
Aside from Minami, fans should also look forward to other characters recently introduced in the anime. As the “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 episode 12 video preview hints, viewers will be seeing more of the Ayako and Fumiya. Note that the party and introductions of Minami and Fumiya were highlights at the start of the Double Seven arc. But it was previously announced that anime will also include some original stories in its remaining episodes.

The inclusion of Double Seven arc in “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is interesting, especially considering that MyAnimeList indicates there is one more installment to be released after episode 12. This could be the producers' way of increasing the interest among fans to prepare for a potential season 3, although the future of the anime remains unknown.
