It now appears that the postponement of “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2’s production is done as the studio Eight Bit releases new teaser images for the anime’s return. More importantly, the producers hint at keeping the planned premiere in fall.
Eight Bit releases new teaser images for ‘Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2
“Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was one of the main attractions at the Aniplex Online Fest that took place last week. A special panel for the anime’s much-awaited return was part of the virtual convention’s program that also led to the release of new teasers.
Four new promo images were released, and anime fans can look at them without worrying much about getting “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 spoilers. The teasers are from a sequence that happens at the early segments of the Visitor Arc where Tatsuya, Miyuki, and their other friends meet the new character named Lina. These images were from scenes where the Shiba siblings attend New Year celebrations where they notice a girl who looks like she comes from a different country.

If “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will follow the order of events in the light novels, Lina’s real identity could be established early on in the anime. Meanwhile, those who have seen the 2017 anime film are, of course, familiar with Lina already.
Her arrival in “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2, however, is going to be the character’s official canon introduction. As the latest preview mentions, Lina is going to be an “important” aspect of the Visitor Arc.
‘Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 release date set in October
Before the production was postponed due to COVID-19, “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was supposed to premiere in summer. But with the timeline changes, new episodes are now slated to arrive sometime in October. Fortunately, Eight Bit appears to be confident in keeping this schedule. The release of the new teaser images comes with a reminder that the anime will be back on the air in the said month.
The year 2020 marks a couple of milestones for the franchise. Aside from the anime’s much-awaited return after more than six years, the premiere of “Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will also follow the light novel’s conclusion when volume 32 is released on Sept. 10 in Japan.
