Italian industrial production output better than expectations in January

Italian industrial production grew sequentially in the month of January. According to Istat, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index rose 1.7 percent, as compared with the prior month’s fall of 0.7 percent and consensus expectations of a rise of 0.1 percent. The percentage change of the average of the last three months with respect to the previous three months was -1.8.

On a year-on-year basis, industrial production index dropped 0.8 percent, as compared with the fall of 5.5 percent in the prior month and consensus expectations of a fall of 3 percent.

The unadjusted industrial production index dropped 0.9 percent compared with January 2018.
