In one of the recent developments, Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former President Donald Trump, who also served as his adviser, testified before the January 6 House Committee. According to a former federal prosecutor, Ms. Trump likely incriminated her father regarding his involvement during the riots.
Speaking on “The Stephanie Miller Show,” former longtime federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner said Ms. Trump’s testimony to the committee likely further incriminated her father. According to Kirschner, Ms. Trump likely revealed that she tried to convince her father to call off the insurrection, but he refused.
Kirschner cited former Trump national security adviser Keith Kellogg, who revealed that Trump refused to call off the riots. Kirschner said several other White House officials, including former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, tried to stop Trump and also failed.
“That is a president in every real way, waging war against the United States,” said Kirschner. “Even his own daughter couldn’t stop him. That is deeply incriminating information. Presumably, it’s been provided by Ivanka that under oath to the J-6 committee, and if I were prosecuting the case, she would be one of the very early witnesses I called.”
Ms. Trump’s testimony to the committee lasted for eight hours, and while the details of what the former White House adviser said were not disclosed, the committee’s chair Rep. Bennie Thompson said that Ms. Trump was answering the questions of the panel.
The committee’s vice-chair, Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, also weighed in on Ms. Trump’s testimony to the committee. Cheney said Ms. Trump’s testimony was “certainly” helpful to the panel. Cheney is one of the only two Republicans on the Democrat-led panel, alongside Rep. Adam Kinzinger, both of whom have become one of the most vocal critics of the former president.
Aside from Ms. Trump, her husband, Jared Kushner, testified before the panel days prior. Both appeared before the panel voluntarily and without the need for a subpoena.
“Certainly, her testimony was helpful,” said Cheney, regarding Ms. Trump’s appearance before the committee, making her the second member of the Trump family to come forward. “As has been the testimony of hundreds of others who have appeared in front of the committee.”
