The congressional committee investigating the Capitol insurrection of Jan. 6 has already obtained troves of records and testimonies. With former first daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump getting implicated in the events of the insurrection, the panelists of “Morning Joe” say that Ms. Trump falling under heavy scrutiny means the probe is coming into focus.
The committee requested Ms. Trump to come in for an interview regarding what transpired in the White House as the insurrection took place. The former president lashed out at the panel, accusing the panel of going after “children,” despite Ms. Trump working as her father’s adviser and is 40 years old. The panelists of the show also pointed out that Ms. Trump has valuable information to share with the committee.
Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough noted the recent developments in the committee’s probe into the insurrection, including Ms. Trump falling under greater scrutiny over the events, which means that the probe is reaching a point where all the pieces are falling into place.
“Over the past two weeks the momentum has picked up on the Jan. 6 committee despite all of the arguments, despite all of the Republicans trying to block this, the law is the law is the law,” said Scarborough.
“They’ve got a Supreme Court ruling that says Jan. 6 committee has the right to get the information. They’ve got volumes of documents, has volumes before that. They have former Trump White House people like Kayleigh McEnany and others who were working with the committee, trying to get information. They certainly weren’t in support of the Jan. 6 commission.”
“It seems to me they’re going to be able to piece together whatever timeline they want to piece together,” Scarborough continued. “Not only on Jan. 6 but in the days leading up to Jan. 6. I mean, you can see the puzzle pieces really coming together here.”
Ms. Trump is not only falling under scrutiny in the Capitol riots investigation, but she has also been implicated in the investigations against the former president and his business practices in New York. According to Mary Trump, Ms. Trump’s cousin and the niece of the former president, the former White House adviser would likely be thrown under the bus by her own father if it meant he could escape accountability.
Speaking with MSNBC host Alex Witt, Mary Trump said it is unlikely that the former president would be willing to protect his children. Ms. Trump explained that the former president is only “protecting” his eldest daughter with the knowledge that she has information that could be used against him.
