Election forecaster J. Miles Coleman discussed the contests for the U.S. House and Senate in a CBS News video as voters prepare to decide which party controls each chamber.

Coleman is an associate editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball. CBS News described his appearance as an analysis of the races but provided no specific forecast or assessment of an individual contest in the video’s accompanying text.

USAGov says all 435 House seats and about one-third of Senate seats are up for election in 2026. The Federal Election Commission (FEC) lists Nov. 3, 2026, as the scheduled federal general election date. The congressional elections will determine control of both chambers for the next two years, though some races may remain unresolved after Nov. 3.

The chambers can move in different directions. In 2018, Democrats gained House seats while Republicans increased their Senate majority. EconoTimes previously reported on House polling and close Senate races ahead of this year’s vote.

Voting is scheduled for Nov. 3. Louisiana’s election office says its House races may require runoffs on Dec. 12.
