On February 4, Kevin Stevenson, president of PRA Group, presented a check for $30,000 to Todd Walker, executive director of JCOC. PRA Group volunteers were also on hand to assist JCOC staff in preparing and serving lunch to homeless residents and others in need of food assistance.
“Everyone at JCOC works hard to help make life better for families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness,” said Stevenson. “We are honored to partner with JCOC on this building project, which will have a major impact on breaking the cycle of homelessness in our community.”
“The donation from PRA will positively impact the individuals we serve in so many ways,” said Walker. “This generous contribution also serves as the first building block towards our campus renovation project launch. These upgrades will help us deliver services more efficiently and become an even better resource to the Virginia Beach community. We are thankful for our continued partnership with PRA.”
The first phase of the project calls for construction of an eight-foot brick wall with a gate to surround JCOC’s property at 1053 Virginia Beach Boulevard. A men’s dorm building, which is currently condemned, will be demolished and rebuilt. The new building will cover three floors spanning approximately 6,300 square feet.
Graphic renditions of the new buildings and additional information about the project will be available on the JCOC website.
