JSW Energy’s profit attributable to shareholders rose 50% to ₹1,056 crore for the quarter ended Sept. 30, while total income, including other income, and power sales increased and expansion-related costs also rose.

Total income, including other income, reached ₹6,658 crore, up from ₹5,361 crore a year earlier, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) climbed to ₹3,907 crore from ₹3,180 crore. Consolidated profit after tax was ₹1,141 crore, compared with ₹824 crore, while profit before tax increased 41% to ₹1,348 crore from ₹955 crore. JSW Energy said new capacity and stronger plant performance supported revenue and EBITDA growth in results released Oct. 28.

Shareholder-attributable profit was up from ₹705 crore in Q2 FY26. The results presentation listed EBITDA margin at 59% in both Q2 FY27 and Q2 FY26, with margin figures shown as whole percentages. Depreciation increased to ₹943 crore from ₹809 crore, which JSW Energy linked to newly commissioned capacity. Finance costs rose to ₹1,615 crore from ₹1,418 crore; the company attributed the increase to additional borrowing for its expansion.

Power sales rose 17% year over year to 17.5 billion units. Installed capacity stood at 15,147 megawatts as of Oct. 5. The company added 1,686 MW during the first half of FY27, including 1,386 MW of renewable capacity; additions in Q2 totaled 813 MW.

Sharad Mahendra, JSW Energy’s joint managing director and CEO, said, “Q2 FY27 marks JSW Energy's highest-ever quarterly EBITDA and PAT.”

JSW Energy is targeting generation capacity of 30 GW by FY30. For FY27, it has set a goal of 3 GW in renewable additions, according to its results presentation. The presentation said 1.4 GW was commissioned in the first half and 1.6 GW is planned for the second half. The 3-GW target is for renewables; the company reported 1,686 MW in total first-half capacity additions, including 1,386 MW of renewable capacity. The presentation rounds the first-half renewable figure to 1.4 GW.
