According to Variety, Paramount Pictures spent an estimated media value of $6.9 million across multiple networks for television ads. The media outlet’s movie commercial tracker revealed that the studio’s upcoming action-adventure and crime film starring Tom Cruise claimed the number one spot for television ad spending.
Other films rounding out the top 5 include Twentieth Century Fox’s ‘Keeping Up With the Joneses’ with an estimated media value (EMV) of $5.17 million, Warner Bros.’ “The Accountant’ with an EMV of $4.73 million, Universal’s ‘The Girl on the Train’ with an EMV of $4.41 million, and CBS Films’ ‘Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life’ with an EMV of $3.9 million.
Meanwhile, according to Cinema Blend, new footage from the film has recently been released featuring Cruise’s titular character staging a prison break to rescue Cobie Smulder’s Maj. Susan Turner. Smulder’s Susan is a career military police officer embroiled in an international conspiracy.
Smulders admitted that her new role was physically demanding. She said, "It was a huge education in that world of being fit, staying fit... You had to get to a certain fitness level. We were [training] six weeks before we even started rolling cameras." The 34-year old actress is best known for her role as Robin Scherbatsky on the television sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’ that originally aired on CBS from 2005 to 2014.
During an interview with ET, Cruise expressed his enthusiasm over reprising his role as Jack Reacher. He said, "Reacher is a badass, tough character… The character has a very swift and violent approach. Even if you're knocked out, he's going to break your leg, because he doesn't want you coming after him"
‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ is an upcoming film directed by Edward Zwick and written by Zwick, Richard Wenk, and Marshall Herskovitz. It is produced by Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions, and TC Productions.
The film is intended as the sequel to the 2012 blockbuster success of the same name and is scheduled to be released on October 21, 2016.
