“Jack Ryan” Season 1 is going to premiere tomorrow, Aug. 31, and fans of the franchise are excited about what the showrunners have done to the story of the CIA analyst and former marine, Otaku Art reported. Jack Ryan is going to be played by John Krasinski, who starred in “The Office” and who was also the lead actor and director of the hit film “A Quiet Place.”
The plot kicks off when Ryan is pulled back to the field when his investigations into several banks led him to discover a looming terrorist threat. “Jack Ryan” Season 1 takes the CIA analyst across Europe and the Middle East, where he’ll ultimately hunt down the show’s antagonist, Mousa bin Suleiman (Ali Suliman).
“Jack Ryan” Season 1 will alternate between the perspective of the CIA agent and that of Suliman. The former will provide a backstory about the character being a self-righteous government agent trying to keep his morals afloat, while the latter takes audiences into the mind of Suliman and his hatred for the U.S. and its allies.
The writers for “Jack Ryan” Season 1 included several real-world incidents that have occurred in recent years, including the 2015 terrorist attack in Paris and the refugee crisis in Turkey.
There will also be subplots included that will focus on a drone pilot and his slow realization that his job isn’t what he thought it was. “Jack Ryan” Season 1 is being spearheaded by “Lost” showrunner Carlton Cuse, while the writing his handled by Graham Roland.
Written by world-famous author Tom Clancy, the franchise was originally set in the Cold-War era but Cuse and Noland decided to bring “Jack Ryan” Season 1 to modern times. As mentioned earlier, the first season will premiere on Aug. 31 with all the episodes dropping on the same day on Amazon Prime.
