There is a lot of excitement surrounding “Jack Ryan” Season 2 after its predecessor proved to be a big hit among TV viewers. Amazon was so confident that the action political thriller will perform well that it greenlighted the production of the second installment ahead of season one’s release.
John Krasinki’s portrayal of the titular CIA analyst and former marine was something to behold, with Wendell Pierce as James Greer providing a counter-balance to the duo’s relationship. Both stars will be reprising their respective roles in “Jack Ryan” Season 2 even when Greer was sent over to Russia by the end of the first installment. And no, Russia will not be the main antagonist in the second entry, Digital Spy reported.
Instead, “Jack Ryan” Season 2 will take audiences into South America where the analyst is set to go against the power residing in the region. During the mission, Jack will encounter a man named Max Schenkel (Tom Wlaschiha), a foreign agent who’s being driven by unknown motives.
Apart from South America, however, “Jack Ryan” Season 2 has been seen filming in London, specifically at Leicester Square. Multiple locations seem to be a staple for the spy thriller as the first installment also spanned several countries throughout its story.
As for the plot itself, nothing has been hinted by the showrunners other than the fact that “Jack Ryan” Season 2 will be a standalone narrative. This means that audiences aren’t required to watch the first season to understand what will be occurring in the next entry, co-creator Graham Roland told The Hollywood Reporter.
“I think one of the things that we both talked about when we started coming up with the architecture of the show was that you should be able to watch it in the same way that you can go to an airport bookstore and grab a Tom Clancy ‘Jack Ryan’ book and never have read the previous one, and still enjoy it. In that same way, you should be able to enjoy our show. It shouldn't be so serialized that you can't jump in at any moment,” Roland explained. With regards to the release date of “Jack Ryan” Season 2, Amazon hasn’t announced anything yet.
However, since the show has been in production for several months now, it could come out in August similar to its predecessor. Or maybe even earlier. Hopefully, “Jack Ryan” Season 2 will be as gripping as the previous entry so Amazon will order another installment.
