The Associated Press reported that state Rep. James Talarico won Texas' U.S. Senate race, after Republicans had awaited results at Attorney General Ken Paxton's Dallas watch party, resolving the contest for the state's next senator.

Al Jazeera reported that Paxton's supporters were anxiously following the count. Its Nov. 4 video report described Talarico as a Democratic challenger gaining momentum.

The Texas Secretary of State's certified ballot listed Republican Paxton, Democrat Talarico and Libertarian Ted Brown. The lineup also appears in EconoTimes' election-night guide.

A Nov. 1 poll by The New York Times and Siena Research Institute measured support at 50% for Talarico and 43% for Paxton; its margin of sampling error was 3.4 percentage points. EconoTimes previously summarized the figures in its coverage of the poll.

The survey was conducted before the Nov. 3 election and was not a vote count.
