‘Jane the Virgin’ Season 3, Episode 5 Spoilers: “Chapter Forty-Nine” – Michael, Rafael Attempt Friendship But Things Get Awkward; Fake Petra Exposed?

‘Jane the Virgin’ season 3’s episode 5, entitled “Chapter Forty-Nine”, will find Michael and Rafael attempting to become friends but things get awkward fast enough. Meanwhile, Rafael will begin to suspect that his ex-wife Petra is not who she seems.

The synopsis for “Chapter Forty-Nine” posted on SpoilerTV stated, “Jane (Gina Rodriguez) convinces Alba (Ivonne Coll) to let her read the letters from her estranged sister, but under the condition Jane doesn’t reach out to her family.

Rafael (Justin Baldoni) is starting to suspect that something is different with Petra (Yael Grobglas). Meanwhile, Michael (Brett Dier) and Rafael, with the help of Jane and Rogelio (Jaime Camil), try to create a civil friendship, but it doesn’t go as smoothly as everyone hoped."

The promo for episode 5 opens to Rafael asking Michael if he is okay. Michael tells him, “Sore. Trying to get back in shape so I can pass my physical for work.” Rafael then offers the services of the gym at The Marbella to which Michael agrees. Jane, on the other hands, looks surprised that the two men in her life seem to be getting along well.

The next scene shows Jane’s husband hanging out with her baby daddy at the gym. It seems that Michael is eager to establish a friendly relationship with Rafael.

When Michael attempts to make small talk while Rafael works out, it doesn’t seem like they have much in common when it comes to shared interests. Rafael, looking quite annoyed, admits that he doesn’t like talking while working out. Michael continues to be friendly but only ends up being awkward.

Meanwhile, Jane convinces her grandmother Alba to let her read her estranged sister’s letters on the condition that she would not reach out to her family. It would be interesting to see if Jane will stay true to her word.

Rafael will also begin suspecting his ex-wife Petra’s unusual change in personality, according to Christian Daily. Perhaps he will finally realize that she is not the real Petra but is actually her twin sister Anezka. Anezka poisoned the real Petra so she could assume her identity.
