By the Oct. 27 snapshot, the Nikkei 225 had gained 2.2% to 63,542.77; Reuters’ earlier reading, carried by The Economic Times at 9:42 p.m. ET Monday (01:42 UTC Tuesday), showed a 1.91% rise to 63,374.45. The Associated Press reported Advantest had jumped more than 10% and SoftBank Group had gained 7%; an earlier Reuters report carried by The Economic Times said Advantest was the benchmark’s biggest boost.

The move followed gains in U.S. semiconductor shares. Nasdaq data show the PHLX Semiconductor Index rose 2.82% to 11,083.47 on Oct. 26. The AP reported U.S. stocks also advanced Monday, with Nvidia up 2.4%.

Anthropic filed a Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Oct. 26 for an initial public offering of Class A common stock. The preliminary prospectus says the company applied to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the proposed symbol “ANT,” but leaves the offering price and share count blank.

The filing reported $16.286 billion in revenue for the six months ended June 30, 2026, and a net loss of $80.748 billion. That net loss included $72.388 billion from changes in the fair value of convertible notes, derivative liabilities and SAFEs; the company separately reported a $693 million operating loss.

Investors also faced near-term tests for AI demand and spending. Alphabet and Microsoft were due to report earnings Wednesday, Oct. 28, with Amazon scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29; the Federal Reserve was due to conclude its meeting Wednesday.
