Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have parted ways for several years now but rumors that insist they are getting back together keep popping up. However, fans may take hints from Affleck’s recent relationships that a reconciliation between the former couple is not in the cards, at least in the near future.
About a week ago, Affleck was first seen going out for dinner with Playboy magazine model Shauna Sexton. Their photos came out a few days before reputable celebrity news publications confirmed that the “Batman” actor has called it quits with “SNL” producer Lindsay Shookus.
Reports such as the one from TMZ confirmed that Jennifer Garner’s ex-husband went out with Sexton on the evening of Aug. 16 — a day after his birthday. Photos surfaced online showing the rumored lovebirds leaving Nobu in Malibu.
Then on Monday, reports finally confirmed that Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus ended their relationship after one year. An insider claimed, “They both tried to make it work, but the distance just proved to be too much for them right now. Family comes first for them both.”
So what do all these reports imply about Affleck and his relationship with Jennifer Garner? As mentioned, there have been claims that a reconciliation is looming between the two. And although they have not addressed these rumors directly, Affleck’s dating life post-separation is apparently putting these claims farther from reality.
One factor that allows these reconciliation rumors between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner to prosper is the fact that they are still a legally married couple. It can be recalled that they confirmed their separation in 2015, followed by Garner filing for divorce in 2017.
Earlier this month, The Blast even reported that the court was considering dismissing their divorce if they “fail to take the appropriate steps” to help the case progress. This was followed by a rumor that one major hiccup in the divorce proceedings is Ben Affleck’s struggle for sobriety.
Us Weekly claims through a source, “The one thing she's not flexible on is sobriety. (Jennifer Garner) is hesitant to sign off until she's certain that the kids will be in the best hands at all time. Finalizing the divorce has been a long process because of it.”
