Jollibee is now offering Spicy Chickenjoy in the United States, and the menu addition was announced this week. Americans will now have the chance to taste the spicy, crispy fried chicken that people in the Philippines have come to love.
According to Hypebeast, Jollibee's Spicy Chickenjoy will offer another level of spiciness - from the breading to the core. The chickens were marinated and coated with breading that was mixed with extra spices to create the savory batter. The fast-food chain is certain that once customers try the new Spicy Chickenjoy, they will return to the stores to buy more.
The Jollibee Spicy Chickenjoy is available in the chain's outlets across the U.S. Customers can purchase the new fried chicken variety for a starting price of $5.49. It is available for a two-piece meal, three-piece meal, bucket of six pieces fried chicken, 10-piece buckets, and family meal options.
"Our world-famous Chickenjoy has been a favorite for many, and we are delighted to add the New Spicy Chickenjoy to the lineup for customers that crave a flavorful heat with the crispy juicy Chickenjoy they love," Jollibee North America president and Honeybee Food Corporation's business group head, Maribeth Dela Cruz, said in a press release.
Jollibee's head of North America research and development, Joy Cruz, further stated with regards to the new spicy flavor, "We have perfected our Spicy Chickenjoy recipe to include a delicious blend of chilis and seasonings in the marinade and coating that deliver maximum flavor in each bite."
Cruz explained the spiciness will immediately hit on the first bite - from the breading and transitions into a lingering heat that leaves you craving your next bite." Lastly, she said the new Spicy Chickenjoy is surely a flaming gamechanger as it captured the perfect balance of flavor and heat from coating to core, thus they can't wait for diners to purchase and taste it.
Meanwhile, San Antonio Current confirmed that the Jollibee branch located at 5033 NW Loop 410 is one of the outlets in the U.S. that is now serving the Spicy Chickenjoy. For other locations, customers can check out Jollibee U.S.' website.
