LOS ANGELES, May 09, 2017 -- Kellie Hawkins, MPH has joined Englander, Knabe & Allen (EKA) as a Senior Vice President and will lead our health, education, and social services practice.
Kellie Hawkins has held distinguished positions in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, Kellie served as the Chief Operating Officer for the National Health Foundation (NHF), where she oversaw the day-to-day operational and administrative functions of the organization. Prior to joining NHF, she managed the health and human services practice for an executive recruitment firm, The Hawkins Company, based in Los Angeles. From 2010-2015, she worked for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services advising senior administration officials on fiscal priorities, such as health information technology (IT) investments, the national vaccine program for children, and the World Trade Center Health Benefits Program. She also served as a Program Officer for the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) Regional Extension Center program, a national grant program in support of health IT adoption and implementation.
Prior to her work with the federal government, Kellie served in the administration of former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, as the Executive Director of the Commission on the Status of Women. Ms. Hawkins also has ‘hands-on’ experience in public health, having worked as an epidemiologist for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Sexually Transmitted Diseases program.
In addition to her professional career, Kellie is civically engaged and has served on the boards of Peace Over Violence and Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters. She currently serves on the boards of Public Health Advocates and Downtown Women’s Center’s Leadership Council.
Kellie completed her undergraduate studies at Howard University and received her master’s degree in public health from the University of Southern California in 2003. She was an American Marshall Memorial Fellow in 2013 and a graduate of CORO’s Health Leadership Program.
According to EKA Managing Partner Matt Knabe, “Kellie brings a robust set of skills to EKA and a unique understanding of the public policy implications of health, education, and social services decisions. Her experience adds immediate value to our existing client base and additional depth and reach to our new business development efforts.”
“I am thrilled to join the team at EKA. They are ‘results driven,’ and operate the business with one thing in mind—the interest of their clients,” said Hawkins.
