‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ lead actor Taron Egerton praised Channing Tatum’s performance in the new film as well as confirmed the end of filming for the highly anticipated sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service.’
According to MovieWeb, Egerton recently attended the premiere of his upcoming animated musical film ‘Sing’ at the Toronto International Film Festival. During the red carpet event, he confirmed the end of production for Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming second installment in the ‘Kingsman’ cinematic adaptations.
Egerton teased, “It’s great man. We just finished. It’s going to blow everyone away.” The 26-year old English-born Welsh actor was first introduced into the franchise as Gary “Eggsy” Unwin in the 2014 film ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service”, where he won the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer. He was also nominated a BAFTA Rising Star Award as well as a Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie: Breakout Star for his performance.
Eggsy is a former street punk-turned-Kingsman agent. He was candidate for the position of Lancelot in the British spy agency Kingsman recruited by Colin Firth’s Harry Hart a.k.a. Galahad. Although he has rebellious tendencies, he is fiercely loyal and highly intelligent and is a skilled gunman and combatant.
Joining Egerton in the new cast are Colin Firth as Harry Hart a.k.a. Galahad, Julianne Moore as the villain Poppy, Mark Strong as Merlin, Halle Berry as Statesman agent Ginger, Pedro Pascal as Jack Daniels, Sophie Cookson as Roxy a.k.a. Lancelot, Jeff Bridges as the Statesman Head, Edward Holcroft as Charlie, and Channing Tatum as a Statesman secret agent.
According to Comic Book Movie, Egerton expressed his praise for co-star Tatum saying, "He was only around for a couple of weeks, he's such a great guy. He's such a great guy and he's brilliant in the movie. It's gonna be great." Tatum’s role in the sequel is yet to be known except that he is part of the American counterpart of Kingsman called Statesman.
Tatum announced his involvement in the second film earlier this year through Twitter. He posted, “I’m about to get all up in that Golden Circle.”
‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’, otherwise known as ‘Kingsman 2’, is an action-spy and comedy film directed by Matthew Vaughn. It is the intended as the follow-up to Vaughn’s 2015 film ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, which received positive reviews and became a financial success after $414.35 million worldwide on a budget of $81 million.
The film is produced by Marv Films, TSG Entertainment, and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. It is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2017.
