Kyrie Irving Free Agency 2019: Boston Guard Responded to Allegations He’s Teaming Up With Kevin Durant in New York

Kyrie Irving has been recently caught up in a massive rumor mill that resulted in people speculating if he’s going to team up with Kevin Durant when they become free agents this summer. The whispers started when a video of the two went viral on social media where they were seen having an animated conversation with each other.

After several news outlets published speculative stories about the matter, Kyrie Irving was approached by the media to see what he thinks about all of it. Unsurprisingly, the Boston guard wasn’t too thrilled about how people interpreted the exchange, Boston reported.

“It’s a video of me and one of my best friends talking,” Kyrie Irving started. “And then it turns out to be a dissection of a free agency meeting? Do you get that? Like, do you get that? And then I’m asked questions about that? That’s what disconnects me from all that s***.”

Kyrie Irving’s frustration is understandable and he isn’t the only one who's fed up with this sort of narrative surrounding the NBA. Kevin Durant recently told off reporters after he too was pressed to share his thoughts about his own impending free agency. He even called out Ethan Strauss and told the reporter that he was one of those who’s been stoking the fire that got fans riled up.

Similarly, Kyrie Irving also told off one of the reporters when they brought fans into the narrative, explaining that they’re only doing it to appease the league’s following. The guard, of course, didn’t believe the claim one bit and said that the reporters are only pushing this story to get likes and clicks.

As for Kyrie Irving’s future with the Boston Celtics, that is up in the air at the moment. While the 26-year-old previously said that he’s going to be committing with the organization long-term, that opinion has now shifted. The reason behind the change is unclear but it’s being speculated that the way the Celtics treated Isiah Thomas may have something to do with it. Indeed, even Anthony Davis’ father said bluntly that he doesn’t want his son playing for the Celtics due to how they traded Thomas even after the guard poured his heart out for the team.
