LG Electronics revealed it will produce robots designed especially for hotels. The company is teaming up with the Westin Josun Hotel, a Seoul-based five-star luxury hotel, for this project.
The hotel will also be the first lodging place to use LG Electronics’ hospitality robot machines. The company announced on Wednesday, Feb. 21, that it has signed an agreement with Josun Hotel & Resorts Company for the development of service robots. The signing event took place at The Westin Josun Seoul, located in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, as per Korea’s Chosun News.
Exclusive Hotel Robots
The South Korean electronics company said that its partnership with the hotel chain aims to make and deploy cart-type robots made especially for hotel use. LG Electronics added it also has plans to make the processes easier and gradually apply these solutions.
The firm will use its “CLOi CarryBot” to produce robots that can carry out different hotel tasks, like transporting items and cleaning rooms. This will be the first time LG Electronics uses its CarryBot for hospitality services, as it is typically used only in logistics centers. Now, it will be customized for hotel operations, and The Westin Josun Seoul will be the first to try this innovative product.
“By utilizing the CarryBot, hotels can enhance efficiency by delegating transportation tasks, allowing staff to concentrate on customer service,” LG Electronics’ robotics business head, Noh Gyu Chan, said in a statement. “Drawing on our extensive expertise in unique robot solutions, we aim to provide customers with new experiences.”
Autonomous Driving in Hospitality Setting
The Korea Economic Daily reported that LG Electronics will focus more on polishing the autonomous driving capability of its hotel robots. It will also apply new artificial intelligence (AI) technology to make the operations smoother and more accurate. Lastly, the electronics firm will add a wireless communication system for flawless remote control of the robots when they are at work.
