Lam projects wafer-fabrication equipment spending will top $200 billion in 2027. Clean-room availability and shortages of some components could constrain the industry's ability to meet demand.

Lam's September quarter delivered 54% annual revenue growth, bringing sales to $8.219 billion for the period ended Sept. 27. Revenue rose 30% year over year in the June quarter, according to EconoTimes’ pre-call coverage. Both rates compare with the matching quarter a year earlier, rather than indicating sequential growth.

The projection, delivered on the Oct. 21 call, would put 2027 spending well above Lam's mid-$150 billion estimate for 2026. Lam expects 2027 spending growth to be strongest in DRAM, with leading-edge foundry logic and NAND also projected to expand. Lam supplies wafer-fabrication systems, parts and services to semiconductor makers.

Lam's December-quarter guidance centers on revenue of $8.60 billion and includes a $400 million range in either direction.
