REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 31, 2017 -- Lastline, Inc., the leader in advanced malware protection, today announced that Co-founder and CTO, Dr. Giovanni Vigna, has been invited to present at Infosecurity Europe, which is taking place June 6-8, 2017 in London.
Infosecurity Europe is the region’s premier information security event featuring Europe's largest and most comprehensive conference program and nearly 14,000 visitors from 77 countries. In his session, Adversarial Machine Learning: The Pitfalls of Artificial Intelligence-based Security, Dr. Vigna will review how artificial intelligence (AI) is (mis)used in various security-related domains, and will describe possible attacks against AI-based security systems.
“Infosecurity Europe is a truly prestigious event at which to present,” commented Dr. Vigna. “The conference’s Advisory Board has many, very high-quality submissions, so being selected demonstrates the audience’s, and by extension the market’s, interest in the latest cybercrime techniques and how to apply innovative technology to detecting attacks and preventing data breaches.”
Session attendees will:
- Gain a deeper understanding of what AI can do to improve the security of systems and networks
- Understand how AI and machine learning are used today in available commercial tools
- Learn about the risks associated with adversarial machine learning and how to mitigate them
- Obtain an insider's view into autonomous hacking competitions and real-world AI-based malware analysis
- Learn how to make sense of the buzzwords and marketing lingo used to described AI-based security solutions
Dr. Vigna has been researching and developing security technology for more than 20 years, and has published over 200 papers and publications on malware analysis, web security, vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection, and related topics. He co-founded Lastline with Dr. Christopher Kruegel and Dr. Engin Kirda in 2011, and is a Professor and the director of the Center for CyberSecurity at the University of California in Santa Barbara. He is known for organizing and running an annual inter-university Capture The Flag (iCTF) hacking contest, and leads the Shellphish hacking team, which is the longest-running team playing at DEF CON CTF.
