CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (28th September) and cover positions up to Tuesday (25th September). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions; however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

- Gold – Net position short and increasing
Short positions rose for a second consecutive week. The net short positions got increased by 6,804 contracts to -17.6K contracts.
- Copper – position shifted from short to long
The net long positions rose in such a fashion last week by 11,295 contracts that the net position shifted from short, to long to +11.1K contracts.
- Silver – Net position short and decreasing
The short positions declined for the third consecutive week and by 2,261 contracts to -23.2K contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and increasing
Speculators increased long positions for the 4th time in 14 weeks, and by 29,719 contracts, which brought the net positions to +560K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and increasing
Short positions declined for the 6th time in 9 weeks and by 43,202 contracts last week to -38.6K contracts
