CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (30th September) and cover positions up to Tuesday (27th September). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions, however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.
Kindly note, in some cases, numbers are rounded to nearest decimal.
- Gold – Net position long and increasing
Gold traders sharply increased their net long positions in gold. The net long position increased by 35,725 contracts to +291.9K contracts.
- Copper – Net position short and decreasing
Net short positions decreased for third consecutive week. The net-shorts decreased by 11,061 contracts to -2K contracts.
- Silver – Net position long and increasing
The net long position in silver rose for second consecutive week but slowly. The net longs increased by 2,227 contracts to +84.9K contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and increasing
The net long positions increased by 12,773 contracts to +291.6K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing
Traders covered short positions sharply last week. Net-short positions declined by 27,752 contracts to -47.6K contracts.
