Lee County, Florida Selects Mueller Systems for Advanced Metering Infrastructure

ATLANTA, Nov. 02, 2016 -- Lee County, Florida will upgrade its water system with Mueller Systems’ state-of-the-art advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network.  Mueller Systems is a leading provider of innovative water infrastructure products and services and technologically advanced metering systems.  

Lee County Utilities, which serves more than 340,000 customers in Southwest Florida, awarded the project to Ferguson Waterworks, which will implement the Mi.Net® System, Mueller Systems’ advanced two-way AMI network. The Mi.Net system links meters, distribution sensors and control devices in an efficient wireless network for real-time access. This smart solution provides the ultimate in flexibility and scalability, allowing utilities to cost-effectively add advanced capabilities to fixed networks or drive-by solutions. 

In addition to the Mi.Net System, Lee County will install 80,000 water meters throughout its service area by the middle of 2019, a portion of which will be Mueller Systems’ 420 Remote Disconnect Meter (RDM). The 420 RDM is a fully integrated remote disconnect meter and is designed to enable Lee County to remotely manage water services through the Mi.Net System, which can be especially beneficial given the large number of seasonal residents in its service area. Lee County will also use Mi.Data, Mueller Systems consumer portal that allows ratepayers to proactively monitor their water usage.

The Mi.Net system makes usage data available to both the utility and their customers, enabling the utility to identify issues before they escalate and enabling end users to better manage their water usage.

The Mi.Net system features on-demand meter readings, e-mail alerts and alarms based upon near real-time information as well as the ability for utilities to better manage their water resources through on-going access to custom data and information.
