As some of the most popular puzzle-platformers in recent times, it only made sense for both “Limbo” and “Inside” to make their way to the Nintendo Switch. The two games are scheduled to launch next week, on June 28, which is about time. Many fans have been asking for the port since the games are already available on other platforms.
Made by the Danish video game development studio Playdead, the two games have become critical and financial hits through the use of clever puzzles and environmental designs. “Limbo” is the older of the couple, having launched on the Xbox 360 all the way back in 2010, Eurogamer notes. The title features a creepy monochrome environment and a gameplay that blends horror with excellent physics.
The game became an instant hit, which propelled it to become available on multiple platforms. This was followed up by the release of “Inside” six years later and it surpassed all expectations. It retains the gritty and unsettling atmosphere of “Limbo,” but added its own twist of disturbing themes.
As Engadget notes, the games are actually already available on mobile platforms. This allows players to fire them up whether they are on the bus, in a café, or on the subway. However, adding them to the Switch makes a ton of gaming sense due to the nature of the device.
While it is portable just like a smartphone or a tablet, its joy cons can make playing the titles more immersive. Touchscreens have always felt a little off when it comes to playing games, though this hasn’t stopped millions from enjoying mobile titles.
By playing on the Switch, however, players get a clear view of the games’ surroundings and can have much better controls over the characters’ actions. It simply makes for a smoother gameplay experience.
