Lotte Wellfood Co., a leading food manufacturer in South Korea, has brought its Pepero snack line to Thailand via the King Power Duty Free Shop. With the deal, the confectionery company became the first Korean brand to venture into the Thai duty-free market.
According to The Korea Economic Daily, Lotte Wellfood timed the launch of its Pepero products in King Power Duty Free Shop to coincide with the Songkran festival. This event also called the Thai New Year, is celebrated in the country for three days in April to mark the start of a new year.
Pepero’s Arrival in Thailand’s Largest Duty Free Store
Lotte Wellfood announced on Friday, April 19, that it will start selling its line of Pepero chocolate-coated sticks at the said local duty-free store. The company will also market its no-sugar ice cream called “Zero” at the same shop.
The Korean firm is looking forward to good sales performance of its products sold at the largest Duty Free outlet in Thailand. Moreover, the store is said to attract more than 40 million foreign tourists every year, so the partnership is a strategic decision.
