‘Luke Cage’ season 2 is set to feature familiar faces as well as new villains. Mike Colter is set to return the titular bulletproof superhero. It was speculated that the series will begin filming in Harlem very soon.
According to Collider, Netflix has officially announced that the web television series featuring Mike Colter in the lead role is getting a second season. The series’ renewal was announced last December 4 and comes as no surprise for fans of the Marvel comic book adaptation.
The renewal was announced by Marvel Studios with a small teaser video that showed Pop’s Barber Shop during closing hours. During lights out, a little neon sign on the bottom of a glass window lit up announcing, “Season 2. Coming Soon.” It was captioned with “Always forward. #LukeCage.”
The incoming season may feature familiar faces including Mike Colton as the titular superhero as well as Rosario Dawson as the tough nurse Claire Temple although no official casting announcements have been made as of the moment, according to iTech Post.
The series will most likely pick up where season 1 left off – Luke carried away to Seagate Prison after Mariah Dillard betrays him. Alfre Woodard may reprise her role as Mariah while Theo Rossi may return as the menacing criminal Hernan “Shades” Alvarez.
The Netflix’s series was created by Cheo Hodari Coker, based on the Marvel comic book superhero of the same name and shares continuity with the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
It is the third series of an entire line-up of television shows leading up to the assembly of the street-level superhero team known as The Defenders, which includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist.
According to Patch.com, filming for season 2 may commence soon enough as a reconstructed set for the web series was spotted on Harlem’s Lenox avenue just recently. The set for Pop’s Barber Shop, a recurring location in season 1, was seen occupying its former spot on the corner of Lenox Avenue and West 119th Street.
‘Luke Cage’ season 2 is set to return on Netflix. The renewal was announced last December 4, 2016.
