DUSSELDORF, Germany and MILPITAS, Calif., Sept. 19, 2016 -- Lumentum Holdings Inc. (“Lumentum”) has added an industry-first high-port count TrueFlex® Micro Twin WSS to its comprehensive portfolio of ROADM solutions for optical networking applications. This TrueFlex Micro Twin 1x35 WSS leverages the Micro Twin platform to offer a 75% increase in ports in a single-slot low-profile package.
“Compared to conventional Twin 1x20 solutions, the Micro Twin 1x35 expands total port-count capacity by 30 ports in a Micro Twin footprint,” said James Goodchild, director, product line management, Wavelength Management. “This simplifies the adoption process for customers, and the WSS supports the MxN optical switch configuration for colorless, directionless (CD) add/drop architectures.”
The TrueFlex Micro Twin 1x35 WSS supports dynamic deployment of bandwidth down to 3.125 GHz slot widths with accurate attenuation control. It comes in Twin 2x34, Twin 1x35, and universal, programmable MxN configurations. It supports CD and colorless, directionless, contentionless CDC architectures as well as high fan-in colorless mux-demux solutions ideal for scalable DCI interconnect.
Samples will be available within 30 days.
“Demand for Twin WSSs continues to grow as operators leverage the efficiency of CD and CDC networks,” said Doug Alteen, vice president, product line management, Telecom. “This new device enables significantly increased line-side ROADM connectivity and dramatically scales add/drop capacity.”
Lumentum has an extensive portfolio of high-performance, wavelength selective switches supporting single-slot ROADM deployment in metro, regional, and long-haul networks. Many of these products will be on display at ECOC 2016 from Sept. 19 – 21, 2016, in Dusseldorf, Germany at the Congress Center Dusseldorf in Booth # 600 – Hall 3.
