‘Madam Secretary’ season 3’s episode 15, titled “Break in Diplomacy,” is set to follow Elizabeth as she deals with a major faux pas during an important territory treaty meeting, which she may have possibly ruined because of her temper. Meanwhile, Jay is tasked with investigating Kevin’s CIA connections.
The synopsis for “Break in Diplomacy” posted on Cartermatt reads, “Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) is shocked when the Philippines’ unconventional new president, Datu Andrada (Joel de la Fuente), makes a pass at her during their meeting to discuss his refusal to participate in an Asia-Pacific territory treaty.
Also, Elizabeth asks Jay (Sebastian Arcelus) to look into Kevin Park’s (Justin Baldoni) CIA connections, and Henry (Tim Daly) fears for his operative who is embedded in the religious cult when he goes radio silent.”
In the upcoming episode, Elizabeth will threaten the state of an important Asia-Pacific territory treaty after she assaults the President of the Philippines during a meeting. However, it seems that Elizabeth is not to blame for her actions since President Datu Andrada attempted to make inappropriate advances in a professional setting.
The promo opens to Nadine (Bebe Neuwirth) urging Elizabeth to come clean to the press after the untoward incident. In the next scene, the United States Secretary of State is seen awkwardly evading President Datu’s advances until finally she punches him in the face. By the end of the promo, Elizabeth expresses her fears to Henry and says, “I clobbered a world leader instead of saving a major regional agreement.”
It will be interesting to see how Elizabeth manages to get out of her precarious situation. The upcoming episode also proves to be a controversial one, especially for the people of the Philippines.
According to a statement posted on the Philippine Embassy of Washington D.C.’s website, the country’s embassy wrote to CBS Corporation in protest of the upcoming episode stating that it will negatively impact the perception of audiences towards “personages and countries they represent” as well as tarnish the country’s support for women’s rights and gender equality. CBS has yet to comment on the matter as of the present.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth will task Jay to investigate Kevin Park’s connections in the CIA in an attempt to prove Daisy’s (Patina Miller) innocence. The press coordinator was arrested by the police after being suspected of murdering Kevin. Kevin was found dead in his office and was declared to have died of a heart attack.
However, it was revealed that Kevin was murdered. Daisy was taken in for the basis that she was the closest one to Kevin before his death.
‘Madam Secretary’ season 3’s episode 15, titled “Break in Diplomacy,” is scheduled to air on CBS on March 12, 2017. It was directed by Maggie Greenwald and written by Lyla Oliver. It will be followed by episode 16, titled "Swept Away," scheduled to be released on March 19 and directed by Felix Alcala.
