The political drama series kicked off the season with a bang last week as the White House was attacked before Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni) could secure a nuclear disarmament deal between India and Pakistan. A neo-nazi white nationalist group called the Aryan Popular Force turns out to be the culprit of the attack, but Elizabeth will learn something interesting about the group in “Madam Secretary” Season 5 Episode 2.
According to the official synopsis of “Madam Secretary” Season 5 Episode 2, Elizabeth is going to find out that the culprits had support from overseas, and she will try to hunt them down without causing an international incident that can lead to war. The synopsis reveals that Elizabeth’s husband, Henry (Tim Daly), will also come face to face with one of the people responsible for the attack, and it will probably be a tense moment because their eldest daughter, Stevie (Wallis Currie-Ward), was one of the aides who got hurt in the previous episode.
A preview of “Madam Secretary” Season 5 Episode 2 reveals that the Aryan Popular Force has some connection to Poland, and Russell (Zeljko Ivanek) is trying to convince Henry to do an assessment on the culprit of the White House attack. Henry tried to turn down the request since he won’t be impartial due to his daughter’s injury during the attack, but Russell says that President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) trusts him and urges him to do it. It seems Henry may have no other choice but to face the attacker.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth reconfirmed her resolve to find out the truth about the people behind the attack in another trailer, and it looks like she is really determined. “Madam Secretary” Season 5 Episode 2 is scheduled to air on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 10:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
