The Seiken Densetsu series, also known as the Mana series, is Square Enix’s fabulous take on an RPG gaming experience that also throws in some Legend of Zelda game mechanics in the mix. This made the titles a huge hit among fans of both and it was just announced that they will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. On one hand, this is amazing news due to the expanded library. Unfortunately, it comes with a $50 price tag and it’s currently slated only for Japan.
Before people start collectively groaning, it’s worth pointing out that Japan-exclusive releases have been known to make it in the western market in the past. As such, it’s worth noting that the bundle will include Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, and Seiken Densestu 3, Polygon reports.
Interestingly enough, all three games were actually made for different platforms when they first launched. Final Fantasy Adventure or Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden as it is known in the Japan, was actually released for the Game Boy. Secret of Mana was released for the SNES and Seiken Densestu 3 was a Super Famicom title that only released in Japan.
All three titles will now become part of the Switch library courtesy of Square and all customers have to do is shell out 4,800 Yen. As Kotaku notes, considering that the games don’t really come with extra features that modern gamers are used to, the asking price can be considered a little skewed in favor of the companies.
On that note, it’s also a little misguided for some people to say that the age of these games makes them unworthy of higher price tags. Depending on the quality as well as the features that come with the game or the package that includes the game, there are certainly titles that deserve costing $20 or more.
