Marcelo Miranda, a Deutsche Bank veteran, is starting FlowBTC, a local bitcoin exchange in Brazil today.
"The problem with liquidity in Brazil is we have natural buyers, we have people who want to trade, but we don't have natural sellers," he told CoinDesk. "We don't have mining, we don't have a lot of merchants - these are natural sellers and hedgers."
He has entered into a partnership with AlphaPoint, a software provider for bitcoin exchange that will link FlowBTC to other global exchanges.
"We believe his expertise and experience trading securities, including on Deutsche Bank's equity desk, will incentivize trading professionals to become more engaged in Latin America's digital currency space," said AlphaPoint CEO Vadim Telyatnikov.
