Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to launch next week, but gaming media publications have already got their hands on the highly anticipated title. As a result, impressions of the game have already been pouring in along with several hours’ worth of gameplay footage. More details about the title have been making the rounds as well, including the part where Andromeda has the most amount of dialogue in the franchise.
Andromeda was always going to be a huge game, even if it wasn’t an open-world title, but Kotaku’s impression of the universe so far suggests that BioWare really went the extra mile. At the time of the article’s posting, the publication’s Patricia Hernandez had only spent about five hours with the game. During that period, she managed to gather quite a bit of information, which she then listen as bullet-points.
For the most part, it would seem that the start of the game goes along the same line as a lot of people already expected. After a few hours, however, everything quickly devolved into chaos. Quite a few things happened, but the gist of it is that the Andromeda Initiative is in shambles and not just because of the hostile alien environment.
With regards to the game’s other aspects, it seems that one of the standout improvements definitely has to do with the dialogue system because it’s not as constraining. Voice acting is reportedly better as well while the combat system lends much to the desire for more exciting and fast-paced combat.
By now, fans of the series would already know the free-form class system, which Patricia notes can be overwhelming. This isn’t helped by the fact that the game apparently tosses you right into the grinder toot suite.
On the matter of the dialogue, Mac Walters, the creative director of Andromeda spoke to PC Gamer and revealed that there are over 1,200 characters in the game with dialogue. In comparison, Mass Effect 3 only had 670. This effectively makes Andromeda the game with the most speaking lines in the franchise.
