Edelman serves as chair of McGlinchey Stafford’s nationwide Consumer Financial Services Compliance practice. An industry leader and frequent speaker on consumer financial services topics, Edelman has received recognition from clients and peers in publications such as Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America®, honors acknowledging his experience and skill in the consumer financial services compliance arena.
According to ACCFSL, “Membership in the College is by invitation only and is limited to attorneys whose principal practice is in the field of consumer financial services law; who have achieved preeminence in the field of consumer financial services law; and who have made repeated and substantial contributions to the promotion of learning and scholarship in consumer financial services law through teaching, lecturing, and published writings.”
Edelman is one of a select number of individuals who were elected Fellows of ACCFSL for 2017. He joins a roster of approximately 165 attorneys who have received this honor and are counted among ACCFSL’s membership. Marc Lifset, a Member in the firm’s Albany, NY office, is also a Fellow.

In his practice, Edelman represents banks, finance companies, mortgage companies, and online lenders on regulatory compliance matters including consumer loan documentation, e-commerce, underwriting, licensing, state and federal regulatory examinations and investigations, acquisitions and divestitures, warehouse and other commercial financing, insurance, and structured finance. He also focuses on multistate compliance; development of policies, procedures, and compliance management systems; business planning; and risk management for personal property financing, with a particular emphasis on motor vehicle financing and leasing. Edelman received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1986.
