Meghan Markle has been arguably the most talked-about member of the British royal family in recent weeks. Her long-running media spat with estranged father, Thomas Markle, has taken an unpleasant turn and convinced the Duchess of Sussex to take legal action against a British media outlet.
However, some followers of the royal family are offering an interesting angle to the relentless media attention Meghan has been receiving. One suggested that this could be part of a bigger plot, and Meghan is allegedly being used just to distract the public away from other royal family scandals, with one involving Prince Andrew.
Meghan Markle is a ‘scapegoat’ for other royal family controversies, netizen claims
A post on Twitter has been liked by over a thousand others after suggesting that the media in the United Kingdom has been deliberately publishing non-stop royal family rumors as orchestrated by palace courtiers. The same netizen further floated the idea that Markle’s ongoing and highly publicized family debacle is only a “scapegoat” so that people would not look much into Prince Andrew’s alleged involvement with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Meghan’s estranged relationship with her father became the talk of the town just days before she married Prince Harry in 2018. Thomas ended up not attending the royal wedding, which explains why Prince Charles was the one who walked her down the aisle. Thomas has recently gone public with Meghan’s letters following an interview made by a group of the Duchess’s friends to speak on her behalf about this ongoing issue.
How Meghan Markle’s uncle-in-law was linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein?
Epstein’s arrest under federal charges for sex trafficking of minors was one of the biggest news of 2019. Most of the damning information comes from an unsealed court document related to the Virginia Roberts Giuffre v. Ghislaine Maxwell defamation case in 2015. Roberts Giuffre has accused the now-deceased American financier of forcing her to sleep with several of Epstein’s influential friends allegedly, including Prince Andrew.

A photo of a 17-year-old Roberts Giuffre with Prince Andrew, whose left arm appears to be wrapped around her waist, has since been published, adding more fuel to the controversy directed at Meghan’s uncle-in-law. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew issued a statement in August, denying he witnessed Epstein commit activities linked to his criminal charges. “At no stage during the limited time I spent with him did I see, witness or suspect any behavior of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction,” Queen Elizabeth II’s second son said.
